Adapter works great for getting extended reach from my full size lenses. Have coupled my f4 600mm lens on my V2for some amazing close ups. Would be awesome if it would allow continuous auto focus.

The camera (J1/V1) has to be set to AF-S before attaching FT-1 adapter, otherwise it will not be recognized by the camera and controls are locked.

I purchased the Nikon 1 V1 for its ability to fit in a pocket, and for unobtrusive candid photography. No one really pays attention to this great little toy. The FT1 adapter is easy to use and gives you a 2.7 magnification to most of your existing Nikkor lenses. Especially useful when you want extreme telephoto or faster aperature. However, your focus becomes 2.7 times more critical, so make sure your focusing sensors are on your subect! Even with the VR and VRII I would suggest a monopod when using the 300 or longer lenses; as the 300 is now an 810mm lens, and does not give any margin for error. But in all, you defeat having that great little pocket toy (serious toy as it is). Happy shooting, Kenn

This adapter allows you to use ~95% of Nikkor lens. I have 50mm f/1.8 manual lens that's 30 years old and was able to take great pictures with my J1+FT1. I've also use 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 lens and 55-200mm f/4-5.6 lens and worked great.

Just need to remember that there is a x2.7 focal length multiplier with when DX lens are used on the J1 & V1 (CX).

You can't mount a tripod to the Nikon V1 via a Really Right Stuff L Plate (B1V1-L), in landscape orientation, while the FT1 is on the camera. You can mount the camera to a Really Right Stuff L Plate, in portrait orientation, when the FT1 is on the camera.

You'll want some type of mounting plate for the FT1 -- for convenience -- if you're going to use a tripod.
