Great Lens Just Don't Over Do It
This is a great ultra-wide angle lens which can add some new flavor to your portfolio. Be careful not to over do it. Also, keep in mind that some vignetting occurs when used with cropped sensors.

Lots of comments on poor design of lens cap. I did not find it that bad. It holds on fine, not super tight but sifficient with careful use. My biggest surprise is the use of this lens for close up shot. I have been experimenting with flower photography and extreme close up distances. The deapth of field and sharpness is great. It has a different feel and nice addition to my Canon Marco 100L

I have quite a few other lenses (including other L-series) but the widest I had before this one was the 16-35mm zoom. I use a full frame camera (5D Mk2), and I purchased this lens to extend my zoom range on the low end. I have not been disappointed. The lens is great for street/landscape photography where you want to include, say, both the street and the skyline. Edges are significantly distorted (nonlinear), but this is just the way any fisheye lens works. The manual states it has a 180 deg FOV, and this definitely seems to be the case. Wide depth of field is another general bonus for this type of photography. Also, the lens is very compact, in comparison with my other telephoto zoom lenses.
