Tamron's 60th Anniversary Model:
Unparalleled optical performance in a fast and steady telephoto zoom: In the pursuit to achieve the most outstanding image resolution in the 70-300mm class, Tamron's Anniversary lens - the SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) - utilizes an advanced optical design that features an LD (Low Dispersion) and an XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) lens element made from specialized materials that prevent chromatic aberration. As a result, the SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) boasts sharper contrast and greater descriptive performance than all others in its class. In addition, it is the first Tamron lens sporting a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive), Tamron's very own ultrasonic auto-focus drive mechanism This USD mechanism delivers fast focusing, making it a perfect telephoto zoom choice for photographing sports, racing, or other fast-moving subjects. The lens also boasts Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization to assist in handheld photography, not only at long focal length ranges where blurring is common, but also under low-lit conditions, dramatically enhancing photographic freedom. This combination of best in class image resolution, Ultrasonic Silent Drive and Vibration Compensation is a new achievement of Tamron technology culminating in the production of a premium 70 300mm telephoto zoom lens.

Comments about Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD for Canon EOS, With 6-Year USA Warranty:
Amazing lens for the price. The VC is amazing and allows me to get crisp pictures every time. I had the non VC version and had plenty of blur, now I get sharp photos. Amazing for hand holding too. I took a picture, indoors, low light, and was able to go down to 1/4 sec handheld and it came out perfect.

This is an awesome lens, the zoom has allowed me to capture many natual shots of wildlife from a distance as to not disturb them. The clariety and color remain after cropping. For the price of this lense I am very pleased.

The lens is very good for the cost. I do find the lens to be a little slow to focus. I would recommend this lens over the Canon 70-300mm this lens has better optics.
The Perfect Fit

Needed for individual shots of performers to use in programs and brochures. Wanted good focal length plus use in available light. Got exactly what I wanted.
The best tele lens I have used.

I purchased this lens to use during my granddaughters soccer matches, at night, using only high school stadium lighting. I was using a Canon 55-250 IS lens, however it was not good enough for close up shots during the game. This lens on my Canon EOS T3i ASP-C is equivilent to a 105-465 mm. The auto focus is fast, even in low light conditions. The picture sharpness is superior to that of the Canon 250. The VC works great, affording an almost full 4 F-Stop motion adjustment. The only con is the weight. However, one would expect that in a lens made so well and can be overcome with proper holding of the lens and camera. I was amazed that a lens of this caliber cost so little. And, a full 6 year warranty. I love it.

A beautiful lens. Meets all my needs for this zoom range on my canon 60D. Incredible bang for your buck, especially with [@]'s current pricing and service.

I bought this lens as a replacement for my Canon 75-300 USM which did not have the IS feature. I am quite amazed at what Tamron has produced. For this price, this lens is impossible to beat. It has super quick focusing even in low light and the images are razor sharp between f5.6 and f11. Also the VC works like magic. Yes there is a little bit softness at f4.0 and beyond f11 especially at 300mm but it has never been an issue for me.I would give it 4.5 stars and not 5 just because of the fact that when the hood is reversed it make zooming impossible. It is definitely not a show stopper and is something that Tamron could start thinking about how to address in their future releases. The bokeh is good, quality is way better than my Canon 75-300 and still light enough to be a travel lens.I agree that this is not a fast lens and is not suitable for low light action photography outdoors or indoors but hey there are specific lenses available for that purpose which cost at least 3-4 times as much so anyone who tries to compare this with an f2.8 lens is not doing apples to apples comparison.
