Improving upon one of the most celebrated lenses in the Canon EF line is no easy feat, but Canon has done just that. The all-new EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM increases the speed, performance and optical quality of the EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM while maintaining all of the characteristics that have made it a legend for professionals and advanced amateurs alike. The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM features one fluorite and five UD elements for increased optical quality and reduced chromatic aberration. It has a minimum focusing distance of 1.2m/3.9 ft. at all zoom settings, which is useful for photographers in smaller spaces trying to get closer to a subject. It features a next-generation Optical Image Stabilizer, providing up to 4 stops of correction at all focal lengths. And as with all L-series lenses, the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is dust- and moisture-resistant and designed for use in the challenging environments typical of rigorous professional use.

About Me Semi-Professional
Much better image quality than the non IS version of this lens. Image Stabilization is great. I can shoot down below 1/30 second at 200mm.

The only thing that could make it perfect is if they could somehow magically make all that great glass light weight!

Workhorse of a lens
A must-have for any professional photographer to have in their repertoire, I read a lot of reviews measuring this against the first version and decided to go with the second cause folks said it focused faster, was quieter and overall color and glass was better. I use this lens weekly with the other photographers I work with and had to get one as soon as I could afford it (it will put a dent in our wallet and maybe a crink in your neck) Of course, going fixed would be great but I find the variable lenses to be so much more convenient.

70-200 2.8 USM IS II, I love it.

I was hesitant to purchase because of the cost, but glad I did. The colors are amazing as well as the depth of field. This lens has changed my photography in a positive way. I have both a 60D and 5D Mark II and each one gives a different positive result. Works best on the full frame sensor of the 5D. The details are amazing.
