SanDisk Ultra Plus in a Macbook Pro
from North West, Georgia
This drive was installed on a MacBook Pro (MBP), Mid 2009 (dual core processor), 4gb Ram. I also installed the same drive in a MBP early 2011, Core i7 machine with 8gb ram and its now, as they say in the vernacular "wicked fast". Mounting was straight foreword with the existing SATA dirve connections and hardware. Don't forget to unpulg your battery first laptop folks. Initializing (formatting) was done prior to installation via an external USB 2.0 drive cable along with Carbon Copy Cloaner sotware, allowing me to set up a drive which was operational upon installation (sorry Microsoft users carbon copy is not available for your computers). Once installed, all I had to do was repair the drive permissions, verify network, and mail connections and the work was complete. Note: the first time you boot with this dirve installed, your Mac will stay on the greay boot screen for some time (1-3 min) as the machine sets up the BIOS... So wait for it!After installation initialization, drive permissions repair, and verification of maiil and network operation, the drive has run flawlessly for the past few weeks and the computer is extreamly fast in all tasks. There is almost 0 lag time, opening and operating in programs and on the web. If you Mac users have been considering SSD now is the time to take the plunge, just make sure to research compatiblity with your hardware. I have not installed an SSD on a Microsoft machine so I have no input as to its benifit, or complexity.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This driver is blazing fast. It outperforms my older solid states that are in a RAID.

Put it in a Dell Haswell laptop, worked great! Used Acronis backup to back up to external hard drive, then restored to SSD. Got on Sale. Wonder how long it will last. If the sale comes back I will buy another.

Replaced a HDD that was destroyed by a seriously minor impact - very happy not to have to worry about that again!
