    Specifications:

18.2 Megapixel Back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS Image Sensor

The 18.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor captures ultra-high definition images that take full advantage of the camera?s sharp Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens. The sensor enables advanced processing that reduces noise levels resulting in stunning low light images with incredible details.

    High speed AF

To improve focusing speed and sensitivity, the Exmor R CMOS sensor uses its rapid throughput to deliver high-quality image signals to the camera?s BIONZ processor. The result is fast, DSLR-like focusing speeds, even in low light.

Optical zoom plus Clear image zoom

Most digital zooms use electronic cropping to get closer to the subject, resulting in unsharp images. With Clear Image Zoom the powerful processor compares patterns found in adjacent pixels and creates new pixels to match selected patterns, resulting in more realistic, higher-quality images. Clear Image Zoom doubles optical zoom for closer photos.

    Full HD 1080/60p

Record crystal clear movies at the highest resolution available with capabilities for 60p in 1080.3 This provides stunning, fast motion video with less distortion for playback on your HD TV.2 With dual record of stills and movies, you can shoot both at the same time.

Optical SteadyShot image stabilization with 3-way Active Mode

Optical SteadyShot image stabilization reduces shake and blur by countering camera movements in both horizontal and vertical directions. Active 3-Way stabilization adds digital rolling control that counters clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation, resulting in more stable videos even at long focal lengths.

    GPS and Compass

GPS and compass record location data and camera direction as you shoot movies and photos. GPS Log lets users track a photographic journey and later view the path and images on a map. Map View in ?PlayMemories Home? software, allows users to view images on a map showing where they were taken. The logged path and images can also be displayed on Google Earth.

Capture the decisive moment with up to 10fps

Capture full 18.2 megapixel resolution images at up to 10 frames per second, helping to ensure that the decisive moment is captured such as the soccer ball flying into the goal. In addition, a mechanical shutter helps reduce distortion when continuously shooting moving subjects.

3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama mode

Produce awe-inspiring images with 3D still image and 3D Sweep Panorama capabilities.3 Photos will take on a new dimension of creative capabilities for viewing the world in a whole new way.

Picture Effect for more expressive photos

Picture Effect adds a new level of expression to photos, making ordinary landscapes and portraits come to life by heightening mood and emphasizing certain attributes. Select camera models have up to nine different effects.

    Photo Creativity

Photo Creativity allows you to fine-tune your exposure settings, such as brightness, color, and vividness, and quickly choose the right enhancement for your subject. Now you can view Picture Effects and Photo Creativity effects in real time on the camera?s monitor or in the viewfinder before shooting.

    Background Defocus

DSLR photographs are often beautiful because they blur the background, putting the emphasis on the subject. Now our point-and-shoot cameras can deliver this signature DSLR benefit. The system takes two shots, identifies the background and applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear

    Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode

With Intelligent Sweep Panorama HR mode just press the shutter, pan the landscape and let the camera do the rest. It automatically links together each frame to produce a high resolution panoramic image providing the ability to zoom in on small details. This model even detects faces and moving subjects to stitch intelligently different widths to help avoid subject distortion.

    Superior Auto mode

Get cleaner, more dynamic pictures and fewer missed shots. The camera automatically recognizes the correct scene mode, then quickly shoots and combines up to six shots to produce images with greater clarity, optimum dynamic range using backlight correction HDR technology and lower image noise using 6 shots layering technology. Superior Auto intelligently detects 33 scenes for still images and movies, making it easy to get the best shot.

    Face Detection technology

Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends.

    Smile Shutter technology

Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter button and the camera does the rest. You can also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can now be used together with Smile Shutter mode when the Intelligent Auto mode is on. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting.

    Anti-blink Function

It?s frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. The Anti-blink function works to help counter blinking and squinting. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot.

    Soft Skin mode

Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot.

    Intelligent Scene Recognition mode

Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode automatically detects 33 different types of scenes and selects the appropriate camera settings. In Auto Mode, the camera takes a single shot using the optimal settings. In Advanced Mode, the camera takes a photo with the optimal settings and, if in difficult lighting (low light or back light) immediately takes a second photo with another optimized setting so you can choose which to keep.

    Natural Flash

Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash controls the white balance of both the background and main subjects.

    Pros: Easy to use
    Cons: No wifi
Other Comments: There is a bit of a learning curve but once you learn to navigate the menus it's easy to use. Takes great pictures and there are filters on the internet that you can add even though it's not designed to take them. I gave 4 stars because it doesn't have wifi. I didn't think I'd miss it, but I do.

5 out of 5 stars   An Excellent Camera for Casual Use
By Dhiman Roy (San Diego, CA) December 21, 2012
Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
Pros: fantastic photo quality, Awesome Foucs, Great price, Hd video quality, Easy to use
    Cons: Nothing
Other Comments: This little super zoom monster from Sony is really a breath taking item. The fantastic zoom quality and sharp auto focus feature along with great picture quality making it a worth to buy item. This is one of the best in class you'll find today in the market. I have researched a lot before bank on this product. The downside of the camera is only the raw picture which we casual user doesn't even bother to think about it. Over all an excellent product from Sony.

4 out of 5 stars   Excellent Hybrid Bridge Camera
By demiro (PA, USA) December 04, 2012
Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
    Verified Purchaser
Pros: Low light shooting modes, Great Video
    Cons: Operational speed
Other Comments: I've owned and used a few bridge cameras, most recently the Canon SX40. I'd say the Sony is very much on par with the Canon. IQ may be not quite as sharp, but colors are better to my eye, and the HX200V wins out on ability to shoot in low light sans flash and for video capabilities. If video is important to you I'd say the Sony is hard to beat for the price. If stills are your main priority then maybe look a bit harder at other options.

5 out of 5 stars   Great Camera
By JLS (Bloomington, Illinois) July 02, 2012
Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)
    Verified Purchaser
Pros: Excellent picture quality, Great zoom lens, Durable, relatively quick
    Cons: Learning curve on manual
Other Comments: I just got back from a trip to Alaska and am pleased to report that the Sony HX200V performed admirably. I'm really happy with the picture quality from this camera. The picture quality rivals that of my Canon DSLR, but the Sony is much easier to carry and has an amazing zoom lens. The burst mode was great for capturing glacier calving. I really took advantage of the HQ panorama mode - and those pics look great. I took some 3D photos and panoramas, but haven't checked how they look on my 3D TV yet - but they were just for fun. There are lots of reviews of this camera out there, so I won't go into detail much. This camera is pretty durable - mine took several rough knocks, but it still works great. Video from this camera is really clean - but audio is about what I expected from a still camera, OK but not great. The digital zoom is better than other digital zooms, but I would only go to about 45X for anything larger than a 4x6. I usually like to shoot in manual modes, but this camera actually does an excellent job in auto - especially the superior auto mode. I would normally prefer RAW images, but honestly the camera does a really good job handling different contrast conditions and offers various ways to shoot to capture those details. So, even though I thought I would miss RAW support, I found that I don't. My wife really appreciates the full-auto modes which do a nice job even in low light situations. I took lots of hand-held low light photos with much better results than I expected. There's a mode that takes 3 pictures rapidly and merges them to produce really excellent low-light images - it works really well even at night. The only negative I have for this camera is that the printed instruction manual isn't very helpful beyond initial set-up. So, there is a learning curve - it takes some time to memorize the menu structures to get to advanced features quickly. If you're not in a hurry, the in-camera help has the info and the menus aren't bad since options are labeled - it's just when you need to switch modes really fast that it was an issue for me. For example, I had just finished taking a 3D panorama of a glacier when a whale surfaced. It took me a second to switch to auto burst mode - so I only got it's tale. Now that I've used it for a while, that wouldn't be a problem. Other than that, this camera did a fabulous job and was much easier to carry on hikes than a DSLR with 3 lenses. I'm happy to trade off a slight amount of noise for a much handier camera that let me get in close to the action and grab great images quickly - and it's cheap enough that I didn't have to worry too much when hiking through a stream or banging into brush. If you're looking for a point and shoot megazoom, this Sony is excellent.

5 out of 5 stars   Great mega-zoom camera!

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)

Pros: Great low light shots, Great zoom, Great Color
Cons: Power-on hits lens cap, Charges battery in camera
Other Comments: The DSC-HX200V takes great pictures! It has a fast lens at lower zoom settings. The anti motion blur mode also works very well - the camera takes several shots and creates an excellent composite image in low light. I have been using a DSC-H1 for over five years and until now I haven't seen a similar mega-zoom camera that offered enough improvement to justify upgrading. Many mega-zooms do poorly in low light settings due to the limited lens aperture. I compared a variety of similar mega-zoom cameras and the DSC-HX200V was the best in my opinion. Only two (small) gripes: 1) Turning the camera on with the lens cap in place causes the lens to hit the cap. The firmware doesn't sense the cap and alert the user. 2) The charger plugs into the camera, so you can't charge one battery while using a second one unless you buy a separate charger.

5 out of 5 stars   Excellent camera
By Mom Jen (Pennsylvania) April 30, 2012
Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX200V 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Camera with 30x Optical (SNDSCHX200V)

Pros: Zoom is fantastic, Great Pictures, Smile locator works well
    Cons: Not simple point shoot
Other Comments: My Canon Rebel DSLR needed to be replaced, so I began researching what was out there. I originally was going to get a smaller, simpler, point and shoot camera, but I also really wanted a camera that was able to take photographer-level pictures, especially indoors, without having to bring along extra lenses and gear. So far, the Sony has been wonderful! It is smaller than my Canon was, has similar settings (along with 10 frames per second which was fabulous during my daughter's sport events!), and takes great pictures, even in horrible fluorescent lighting situations. I am extremely pleased with my purchase!

    Pros: Everything about it
    Cons: I can't find any
Other Comments: I love Sony products and this camera has made me very happy. I love the picture quality. My kids play sports and the pictures I have been able to capture are superb. I am so glad I purchased it. The batterly life is phenomenal. I bought 3 extra batteries as I find myself taking pics in the high hundreds at events and so far I haven't even needed them. I would recommend this camera to everyone who are like me who are not professionals but want professional looking pics. Thank you Sony and Buydig.com!

Pros: Easy out of the box use, Amateur, Camera, Professional, Digital
Cons: To SHORT lens cap strap
Other Comments: Very quick, "out of the box" battery charge time. Very SHORT lens cap lanyard, pops off if you forget to remove it before turning on the camera. Simple and easy to use built in manual as well as simple, easy to understand pre-programmed scene settings.
