I use the T1i for everything; headshots for actors, long exposure photos, landscapes, the whole shebang! This camera does everything very well. I couldn't be happier.

Great Value

I really like this camera a lot. I am replacing my original DSLR Rebel (300D). There are four things that caused me to upgrade: 1)fast speed of copy to storage. You never have to wait on the camera since you can take over 100 pictures at 3.4 frames per second; 2)High ISO... I now shoot at 1600 or 3200 (it goes higher, but noise increases). This makes the compromise of non-professional lens much more feasible; 3)low light focus (very quick) 4)video (its nice to have the option although this is no camcorder). I use a Sigma 18-250mm and with the high ISO is works great. I recommend you buy the body only and spend the $475 on the Sigma lens. I actually think the 15M pixel is way more than enough. I have read that you can set it to a lower resolution and save a lot of file space with the same picture quality (unless you are blowing up your photos to make posters). How could you find a better value than this camera!

The camera was a great entry level camera for me. The book included in the camera gives you the information you need to know to operate the camera, but leaves plenty of room for experimenting and being creative.
The best camera that's under 1000.

This is probably hands down the best camera you can get under 1000. I did some homework and this camera was highly recommended by consumer reports. I just don't have any complaints. The photographs are amazing. Has great features. 15 megapixal. Takes great video. You can shoot in multiple formats, including RAW. The camera is very light, so if it was heavier, it would probably be easier to take better video, but still I can't complain. For the price, quality and features, you can't go wrong with this camera. For the ease of use and quality of pictures it can achieve, this is the camera to get. If you don't want to spend more then 1000, but you want to get the kind of quality you can get when you spend more then 600, this is the camera. The ISO adjustments and range of ISO and Range of shutter speeds, you can get so many great kind of photographs in all kinds of conditions. Does amazing in the worst lighting conditions. It's sickening.
