Expensive but helps at indoor sports

Bought the lens to shoot basketball games. Picture quality is much better, just need to spend time getting use to it and playing with the settings more to understand how best to use the lens.
Heavy, heavy, heavy.
Heavy, heavy, heavy. I had a previous Tokina 80-200/2.8 and this makes a notable difference to my camera bag weight. I really wish it were lighter. The optics are great. This is my first VR lens and it's terrific. The filters are not multicoated, but since the filters come with the lens for the same price as the lens itself, they're free!

About Me Pro Photographer
This is one of Nikon's all-time best lenses ever. I had to buy one after borrowing one from a Nikon rep at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. There was a huge improvement in the sharpness and quality of the photos I took over my Nikon 18-200VR. I couldn't believe my eyes, but Buydig threw in a free 77mm filter set. It closed the deal for me and saved me $100.

OK, this lens is a tank. It's heavy. So what. It takes incredible pictures even in my amateur hands. I use this lens every chance I get. It's great for my daughter's softball and tennis. It's a great portrait lens. The only thing it can't do is macro. It cost me a lot, but it is absolutely worth it.
