Tamron's 60th Anniversary Model:

  • Best-in-Class Optical Performance
  • High res through use of XLD glass
  • USD motor for fast and quiet AF
  • VC anti-shake mechanism for steady shooting
  • SP class specifications
  • Dual format Di design for use on fullframe and smaller sensor cameras
  • 109-465mm equivalent focal length on APS-C cameras.

Unparalleled optical performance in a fast and steady telephoto zoom: In the pursuit to achieve the most outstanding image resolution in the 70-300mm class, Tamron's Anniversary lens - the SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) - utilizes an advanced optical design that features an LD (Low Dispersion) and an XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) lens element made from specialized materials that prevent chromatic aberration. As a result, the SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) boasts sharper contrast and greater descriptive performance than all others in its class. In addition, it is the first Tamron lens sporting a USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive), Tamron's very own ultrasonic auto-focus drive mechanism This USD mechanism delivers fast focusing, making it a perfect telephoto zoom choice for photographing sports, racing, or other fast-moving subjects. The lens also boasts Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) image stabilization to assist in handheld photography, not only at long focal length ranges where blurring is common, but also under low-lit conditions, dramatically enhancing photographic freedom. This combination of best in class image resolution, Ultrasonic Silent Drive and Vibration Compensation is a new achievement of Tamron technology culminating in the production of a premium 70 300mm telephoto zoom lens.

5 out of 5 stars   Got to get one of these!
By Life thru a Filter (Cypress Tx) December 19, 2012
Review submitted for Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD for Canon EOS Bundle with Hoya Filter Kit (E1TM70300VCEOS)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Great value, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Easily Interchangeable
Cons: Hood Covers Zoom
Other Comments: Tamron made had greatness in mind when they introduced this lens. Out of the box I started snapping some fantastic hand held shots! The value speaks for itself in the amazing photos compared to a more expensive lens. The one negative which isn't really one is that you can't zoom when the hood is in the storage position. Actually, this encourages you to keep the hood where it belongs covering the lens!
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

4 out of 5 stars   Good lens from Tamron!
By Slammie (Houston tx) July 22, 2012
Review submitted for Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD for Canon EOS Bundle with Hoya Filter Kit (E1TM70300VCEOS)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Consistent Output, Strong Construction, Lightweight, Easily Interchangeable, Nice Bokeh, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons: Poor in Low Light
Other Comments: I think this is a good lens for the price with consistent performance. Focus is fast, VC is so useful, and USD better is par or better than Canon 70-300 IS USM. I took a chance with this lens and I am glad that I did.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

5 out of 5 stars   So far, so good.
By Nutmeg Mom (Simsbury, CT) July 03, 2012
Review submitted for Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD for Canon EOS Bundle with Hoya Filter Kit (E1TM70300VCEOS)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Consistent Output
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: With the exception of the AF being a bit fickle when I attempt to zoom, the lens seems to be a fantastic value. It is heavy, but I quickly learned to adjust my hold to accommodate its size. Focus is quiet, though far from silent. Outdoors the noise is not an issue, but I am finding that when inside I prefer MF to avoid drawing attention. The filters were a major bonus for the bundle price.

Review submitted for Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 SP Di VC USD XLD for Canon EOS Bundle with Hoya Filter Kit (E1TM70300VCEOS)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Fast / accurate auto-focus
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: Read lots of reviews online, in forums etc.. Needed an all around lens. I generally always have this one on the camera. It has great optics and is fast to focus. Just a little heavy, but I don't really have anything to compare it to except my kit lens.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product
