Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III 20.2 MP Digital Camera

Absolutely stunning picture quality, compact enough to take anywhere. Now your photos maintain soft background defocus even when zoomed in with the improved f1.8-2.8 24-70mm Carl Zeiss lens. There's even a pop-up electronic viewfinder for eye-level framing and a 180 degree tilt screen for 20.1MP selfies. Lastly, the ultra-fast BIONZ X processor adds speed and accuracy for stills as well as beautiful HD video.

20.1 MP 1-inch Exmor R Sensor

Featuring a large 1.0" Exmor R CMOS image sensor. The back-illuminated technology doubles light sensitivity and combines with Sony?s Column A/D Conversion to reduce noise levels - a great help when photographing in dimly lit environments. Markedly reduced noise is evident even when high-sensitivity settings are used for capturing night landscapes or indoor scenes.

Bright F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens (24-70mm)

The DSC-RX100 III sports an all new bright F1.8-2.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 24-70mm zoom. The lens is perfect for portraits and macro shots with beautiful defocused - bokeh backgrounds. A premium multi-layered T* coating also dramatically reduces ghost and flare caused by light reflection.

Built-in SVGA OLED viewfinder w/ZEISS T* coating

View every scene in rich detail with the bright and retractable SVGA OLED Tru-Finder, which features. The viewfinder faithfully displays what will appear in your recording, including the effects of your camera settings, so you can accurately monitor the results. The ZEISS T* coating enhances clarity and reduces flare and reflection in the eyepiece optics.

Selfie-ready multi-angle 3" Xtra Fine LCD display

Selfies have never been easier with a beautiful 3" (1,229k dots) Xtra Fine LCD Display that rotates in multiple angles. This also makes it easy to photograph over crowds or low to capture pets eye to eye by swinging up and down approx. 180 degrees. Easily scroll through menus and preview life thanks to WhiteMagic technology that dramatically increases visibility in bright daylight. The large display delivers brilliant-quality still images and movies while enabling easy focusing operation.

Versatile shooting w/ XAVC S2, AVCHD and MP4 codes

The DSC-RX100 III records HD movies1 in the XAVC S2 format, which uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 for video compression and linear PCM for audio compression, while saving files in a MP4 wrapper. The highly compressed files allow extensive record times. With 50Mbps Full HD (1920x1080) 60p high quality video recording, XAVC S2 enables beautiful video recording with minimal compression noise even in scenes with a lot of movement. Linear PCM is adopted for audio compression. The camera also records in AVCHD, ideal for quality video for HDTV and Blu-ray Disc burning. Additionally, users can shoot the easily shareable MP4 HD video, ideal for web.

Built-in ND filter for wider-ranging photographic expression

Realize a wider range of photographic expression with built-in 1/8 (3 EV steps) ND filter that allows exposure adjustment in bright scenes.

HDMI clear output for uncompressed video recordings

Clear, uncompressed digital movie signal output can be transferred to an external monitor/recorder (connected via the HDMIterminal) simultaneously in real time from the RX100 III3. The shooting info display can be turned off for even cleaner views of such movies on an external monitor/recorder. Frame rates include 24p, 60p and 60i.

Comfortable control ring for manual operation

A unique control ring around the lens works in combination with an intuitive, displayed user interface for meticulous SLR-type control over settings that satisfies even the most fastidious users. The control ring can be assigned to adjust various features (at various values) from basics like zooming and aperture to creative functions like Picture Effect. Moreover, it turns smoothly and seamlessly, allowing quiet, click-free usage while shooting movies including a new step-zoom function that enables instant selection of commonly used focal lengths.

Simple connectivity to smartphones via Wi-Fi w/ NFC

Connectivity with smartphones for One-touch sharing/One-touch remote has been simplified with Wi-Fi/NFC control. In addition to Wi-Fi support for connecting to smartphones, the DSC-RX100 III also supports NFC (near field communication) - - providing ?touch connection? convenience when transferring images to compatible Android smartphones and tablets. Users need only touch devices to connect; no complex set-up is required. Moreover, when using Smart Remote Control - a feature that allows shutter release to be controlled by a smartphone - connection between DSC-RX100 III and the smartphone can be established by simply touching devices.

Enhance your camera with PlayMemoriesCamera Apps

Personalize your camera by adding new features of your choice with PlayMemories Camera Apps. Find apps to fit your shooting style from portraits, detailed close-ups, sports, time lapse, motion shot and much more. Use apps that shoot, share and save photos using Wi-Fi that make it easy to control and view your camera from smartphone, and post photos directly to Facebook or backup images to the cloud without connecting to a computer.

5 out of 5 stars   Great Camera
By Susan H (Indiana) January 15, 2016
Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III 20.2 MP Digital Camera Kit (E4SNDSCRX100M3B)

Pros: Having been Canon small pocket camera owner for several years I was a bit skeptical about the Sony RX100 iii but since it received several great reviews I was willing to give it a try. I've had the camera for a little over 2 weeks and have been completely blown away by its many options and, most importantly, its picture quality. For me it is the perfect camera for those times I want to be able to slip a camera in my purse or for when I don't want to haul around my full size Nikon DSL. I do a lot of photo cropping and I love that it has 20 MP allowing me to tightly crop without losing picture quality. I'm also impressed with the quality of photos taken in low light situations at high ISO with little or no noise.
Cons: Optical Zoom range is short but you can change the Zoom setting to ClearImage Zoom or Digital Zoom to get longer range. Body is slightly larger and a bit heavier than other compact cameras I have had. Price
Other Comments: I am extremely pleased with the Sony RX100 iii. I would definitely recommend it to one who wants the versatility of full size DSL in a small pocket camera.

5 out of 5 stars   DSC-RS100 III

Pros: Amazing camera with a fairly steep learning curve - for a 67 year old. Bought the optional 2 batteries and charger with the kit plus a another memory card. Flash is decent and I love the pop-up viewfinder. Still learning the finer points and no regrets purchasing it. Kind of missed the "take a picture" during video mode on my Canon but Sony's software on Play Memories allows a better option by choosing the exact frame to produce a JPG from a video. I'm sure I could have used other software to do this in the years gone by, but I was compelled to use Sony's Play Memories software for importing, editing and viewing from my new camera.
Cons: Forget the Sony manual. Download Photographers Guide to the Sony RX-100 III by Alexander S,. White for $7.99 from Google play etc. Also the control buttons are pretty small on the body but what do you expect from a camera this size.

5 out of 5 stars   Great Camera!
By TvilleGuy (Illinois) October 06, 2015

Pros: I've had the camera and accessories for a few months now. The picture quality is amazing and I am just a novice photographer! I like having the extra batteries and charger so I always have enough power to get all the pictures I want. The SD card is fast enough to record video at the highest setting available.
Cons: The included case is very tight but the camera will fit inside. The tripod legs are stiff and sometimes difficult to get placed correctly but as a positive, I used it as a handle when mounted to the camera. I find it very easy to hold the tripod as a handle and be able to hold the camera in a very sturdy way.
Other Comments: This was my first order with this company and after I got past my credit card security checks the order was placed and shipped promptly.

Pros: Love the low light sensitivity and the pop-up view-finder. I haven't missed a shot yet...
Cons: None so far.
Other Comments: Purchased the AGR2 add-on grip which makes a difference. Though it should be included with the camera.

Pros: Well built. Works perfectly out of the box with factory settings. Fits into a pants pocket ( as well as the supplied Buydig case) Allowing you plenty of opportunity to get excellent photos while you learn all the advanced settings. The extra batteries and charger are essential. Large capacity cards, not so much.
Cons: For portrait and detail oriented individuals; not for telephoto fanatics.

5 out of 5 stars   Great camera and great bundle with it!

Pros: Really love this new camera. It takes great pictures, even in dark places, and it's a perfect small size for carrying around without being a burden. Also Beach Camera's bundle with it gave me everything I needed to start having fun with it right away -- three batteries, a separate charger, a decent sized memory card, a case, screen protectors, and a little mini tripod. It was great to not need anything else to get started!
Cons: To me it's odd the camera insists on a 3 s delay when taking a selfie. Also, folding the screen up to take a selfie lifted the corner on the screen protector a bit. The telephoto zoom lens on the camera is modest.

Pros: camera is quality construction. Comes preprogrammed to take good photos while you learn to use its special functions. Vivitar batteries are handy and are higher rated than the supplied Sony. Nice to have two in reserve. Carry pouch is the exact size as the camera. Tripod is straightforward and sturdy. Sony card is more than adequate to get started.
Cons: Screen protectors are generic but I'm not sure I want to use them anyway.
Other Comments: Service by Buydig was better than expected. Instant processing, rapid delivery, order complete and exactly as ordered. No surprises or frustrations.

Pros: Had the extra battery, charger, memory card and travel tripod I wanted with the camera. The camera is great considering the compact size. Perfect for taking great shots without having to haul around a DSLR.
Cons: Some misc items I didn't really need like the SD card reader.
Other Comments: Good package overall!

5 out of 5 stars   This camera is amazing!!!

Pros: Superb pictures, amazing range of features, 1" sensor, solidly built, beautiful EVF display, great HD video
Cons: Popup flash seems fragile, controll buttons are pretty small, a little heavy if you are used to a traditional point-and-shoot, expensive.
Other Comments: If this is in your price range, don't hesitate. To have this kind of functionality and picture/video quality in a small camera is a dream come true!

5 out of 5 stars   Excellent piece of engineering.

Pros: I was looking for a camera I can carry everywhere easily. Bringing my DSLR's with me was becoming a pain in the neck. This little camera is so easy to bring. The quality is excellent even in low light. It has a lot of very nice functions and possibilities.
Cons: It takes a while to get used to control the camera going through all the different menus but it is not that complicated. Also, it is expensive but the way I looked at it was that it cost the same as a good lens for the DSLR's and I get so much more use for it than the lens. I still use my big cameras when I am shooting something at the house or for special occasions. But even in those situations, I am still finding a good use for the RX100M3.

5 out of 5 stars   Wonderful Pocket Camera that takes Superb Images and Video

Review submitted for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 III 20.2 MP Digital Camera - Black (SNDSCRX100M3B)

Pros: Small, pocket able, Fast focusing, easy to use, superb images and video, EVF works well, fun to use, seems well built, great interface. Worth the asking price considering the performance and capabilities.
Cons: Not as easy to grip like big dSLR, Minimum zoom capability, no touch screen.
Other Comments: Bought sight unseen to update RX100/ S110. It exceeded my expectations both in handling and image/video quality and general performance. It's a rare no regret purchase and seems worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars   Sony DSC RX100 III ~~ Beach Camera''s Extras Beat All Others

Pros: Great camera, great optics. Convenient size. The "extras" provided by Beach -- three batteries altogether, 64- SD card, charger, Lightroom 5 placed it ahead of others selling camera alone at the same price. Camera has a learning curve, but a wellworthwhile one.
Cons: You've heard it before: It will be nice when Sony's next version doesn't shut down the camera automatically when the viewfinder is closed. Battery life isn't great, but having the two extras (and they're small) makes up for that. I was surprised that initial wireless upload to PC (only 4 images) seemed to take so long...perhaps 2 minutes. Maybe I'm doing something wrong on that.
Other Comments: Trying to decide how and whether to integrate it with an older -- and much bulkier -- DSLR (Nikon D70) and with a Canon 30X owerShot XS500IS....and,of course, with an IPhoone 5S. The Sony may become my principal camera except for extreme telephotos and wide angles.

4 out of 5 stars   Great travel camera

Pros: There are smaller cameras to travel with, but not with the lens speed, resolution and features. There are better fixed lens cameras in terms of focal length ranges, sensor size and features. This camera fits well in the middle. Still small enough to take anywhere and with a good focal range, especially on the wide end. It also has a viewfinder, which us SLR users appreciate; especially in harsh lighting. I'm very happy with the camera. Get the optional rubber grip, an external charger and spare battery, and a decent strap (such as the Leica), and you won't be disappointed.
Cons: Some autofocus slowness in low lighting. The auto power off when the viewfinder is lowered is an inconvenience, but not a deal breaker.

5 out of 5 stars   Sony DSC-RX100 III

Pros: Compact with outstanding electronic viewfinder. I wear trifocals, so I was concerned about being able to get a decent view through the new viewfinder. No problem at all once I adjusted the diopter for the large top portion of the trifocals l wear. I've owned all three versions of the RX-100. I would say image quality is comparable to the Mk II and better than the Mk I, the first version. Both the Mk II and Mk II have comparable image quality up to ISO 1600 with low noise up to that sensitivity. The zoom lens which has a max aperture of f 2.8, a huge increase over earlier versions. This allows a decent focal range at the medium to long end of the focal length range. Being able to press this camera against my cheek bone allows much steadier shooting than the typical straight arm posture of most compact digital cameras. I have taken available light shots as low as 1/6 sec wide open with good results. Like the Mk II this camera has an LCD coating quite vulnerable to abrasion. I installed a rigid polycarbonate to take care of this issue and a Richard Franiec grip which is much needed on the lip prey camera body. I don't use videos. Overall I am quite pleased.
Cons: Should have a grip as standard equipment.

Pros: Electronic view finder.... As far as I know, DSC-RX100 III is the only camera in this price range that has this feature included. The picture quality is excellent. Also, its ease of use fantastic.
Cons: It could have a longer zoom, but it is not a deal breaker.
Other Comments: If you can have one camera, this is it!

Pros: I'm not a pro. I don't have time to adjust all the features to get the perfect shot. I don't like to travel while holding a big DSLR. I want a compact camera that I can pull from a pocket and take a good picture. I like the fact that the screen is still visible in bright sunlight, night shots are clear, the camera fits in my pocket, and most of all I'm very happy with the quality of the pictures. The deal from BuyDig was super. A lot of extra equipment that I can use for a few dollars
Cons: I had to buy a $15 finger grip that is "peel and stick" separately to hold on to the camera. It really should be built into the camera.
