The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens, featuring a large maximum aperture of f/1.8 that is perfect for handheld, low-light shooting in a wide variety of challenging conditions. The AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G, developed for Nikon DX-format cameras, is the first single-focal-length lens that offers a normal picture angle (approximates that of a 50mm lens with FX and 35mm formats and is similar to normal human vision). It is compact, lightweight and affordable, while providing enhanced shooting flexibility as the latest addition to the Nikon DX NIKKOR lens lineup.

This is such a great lens. I'm in love with it, and I used for everyday photography. It has been on my camera since the day I received it. The price is awesome, great material, excellent lens. This is definitely a must have for all those who own a DX DSLR

A Lens That Delivers

If there;s anything not to like about this lens, I haven't found it. Even the absence of VR has not proven to be a negative. The extremely wide apertures in this lens have provided high enough shutter speed to avoid blur even in very low light conditions. The lens also functions very well for portrait shooting and landscapes. I have found the image quality and sharpness to be outstanding for all of the uses mentioned. The angle of view for this lens (actually about 52mm in the DX format) pretty much matches what your eyes see. So it's a very versatile lens that you zoom with your feet and you usually don't have to move far to get the composition you want.I highly recommend this lens to anyone who wants to take a significant step up in picture quality from what zoom lenses can deliver. And the price is the birthday candle on the cake!
Affordable must have for all nikon users

i decided to get this 35mm instead of the new 40mm macro, and/or the 50mm. i have a d200 and the crop factor with this lens gives me the perfect coverage i was looking for. it's now become my "normal" lens. used most for portraits and/or shots where i really want to take advantage of the low depth of field. the price tag can't be beat, so i really recommend this to any kind of shooter. pro or hobbyist.
