Used this lens to capture my daughter's Tae Kwon Do testing. It's great for Indoor Sports in low lighting conditions. Wideopen, it allows for very fast shutterspeeds in low light, which is great for action photos. My first prime lens and by far the sharpest lens I have ever shot with. Will be buying a lot more prime lenses at varying focal lengths in the future. Works great with my D90.

Also great for portraits or as a walk around lens. I love it!

My need comes preparing for the arrival of my new baby and looking to avoid the constant flash in low light conditions. This lens works perfectly, shoot several try outs with my dog in my room at night and the outcome is just perfect.
The manual focus does not bother me because in portrait pictures there is no erratic movements.
The f1.8 aperture effect is a must in your equipment
