EN-EL15 batteries are long lasting, but it never hurts to have a backup. It gives me a feeling of confidence knowing I won't miss that shot because of a depleted battery. It's on the bulky side, but that's also why it's long lasting. My only other criticism is the cost. It is a bit pricey.
