I received a defective item. Last week I called and called the company and their "Computers were down." So the person that answered each time basically hung up on me. This week, since they are in New Jersey, I guess they were probably effected by Sandy, which is not their fault. But... overall this has not been a good experience. The return policy is really ridiculous. You have to call, you can't just return the thing and you only have 30 days. Wish I didn't buy it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Had the trouble at first making them to work, especially microphone. Other person was not able to hear me but I was able to hear them. Trick is not to push the plug deep into the phone slot. Sound quality is Ok.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Overall it is a pretty cool gadget

I think it is pretty cool gadget. I got it for my Mom as a joke because she uses her iPad to Skype all the time and she is a little hard of hearing. I connected the Retro Handset and let her Skype with her twin. She fell in love with it. Now I don't hear "Can you repeat that?" or " What was that?" in the background, all of the time. The handset is worth every penny. The only down side is the cord. It makes it feel a little bulky...awkward, at times. May be a little longer cord and not coiled?? If it were Bluetooth that would make this a home run. Overall, I am pretty happy with the product and would buy it again
