The Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens is an excellent addition to any photographer's collection, giving users the ability to expand their creativity and capture incredible scenes from a truly unique perspective. This manual focus lens, when used with cameras with an APS-C image sensor, creates images with an expanded perspective, including images with a creatively deformed outlook and a sharp pan focus that extends throughout the entire frame. By offering a 180-degree angle of view, this fisheye lens can be used to create amazing image expressions that cannot be seen by the human eye, such as exaggerated perspective and distortion. The minimum shooting distance (just 12 inches) and large depth of field also provide amazing close-up shots. In addition, this lens incorporates the latest optical multi-coating techniques. The process of multi-coating assures virtually flare-free photographs even under adverse lighting conditions, resulting in crisp, high-contrast pictures.

Technical Specs:

  • Mounts directly to your Nikon DSLR camera - no additional adaptors required!
  • Conforms to APS-C (1:1.5x) size digital imaging format
  • Actualizes 8mm focal length and a diagonal angle of view of 180 degrees for APS-C size
  • Corrects aberrations using a complex aspherical lens. When fully opened, it produces both a high resolution and high contrast view at the center of the lens, as well as around the periphery of the lens.
  • Petal type hood and multi-coating help control flaring and ghosting
  • Offers robust durability by incorporating a rigid aluminum base frame
  • Compact and lightweight
  • F=8mm, F3.5 Fisheye Lens
  • Aperture Range: F3.5 - 22
  • Optical Construction: 10 elements in 7 groups
  • Angle of View: 180 degrees
  • Minimum Focusing Distance: 1ft
  • Length: 74.8mm or 2.95 inches
  • Maximum Diameter: 75mm
  • Type: Manual
  • Includes a lens pouch, built-in hood, and 1 year Rokinon warranty

Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use

Pros: Professional Quality
Cons: Limited Compatibility
Other Comments: This lens is a fantastic lens for its price! The lack of AF is not a factor because it is such a short lens everything is basically in focus. A great buy

5 out of 5 stars   It's really that good.
By Mist3rB33 (Atlanta, GA) July 16, 2013
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MC)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Easy To Use, Professional Quality, Highly Compatible
Cons:
Other Comments: I expected it to be good after reading many reviews, and watching several videos made with it. I was surprised, though, at how sharp it is at the edges and corners at f/5.6 (1.6 crop 7D camera). I tested it indoors on tripod with shutter release and mirror lock-up, and images required no sharpening at all.

5 out of 5 stars   Great value!
By SC98 (Bellaire, TX) April 08, 2013
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MC)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Easy To Use, Compact Design, Lightweight, Highly Compatible
Cons:
Other Comments: The fisheye perspective produces really neat photos and build quality and image quality are really nice. Easy to use even though it is manual. Can still use it on my Canon with aperture priority mode, metering still works. Only downside is there is not a good area to grab on the lens when unmounting from the camera so you end up spinning the aperture ring.

Pros: Versitable, Fun to use, Compact Design, Easy To Use
Cons:
Other Comments: Items that are 10 to 12 inches from the camera are in sharp focus as well as items across the street, all in one picture. Great for signs describing things in the background. Wide angle gets everything in one shot.

Pros: Ease of Use, Sharp, Color rendition, Easy to use
Cons: Lens cap, Lack Of Filters, Lens Cap Quality
Other Comments: Just set the aperture at 5.6 or higher, and the focus at 1m/3ft, and shoot away. A manual focus lens not shy away from, especially with the affordable price for a fisheye.

3 out of 5 stars   Good quality, sharp fisheye.
By trinkus (Portland, OR) April 05, 2013
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MN)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Compact Design
Cons: F-stop Registers Wrong
Other Comments: I've only had the chance to use the lens for a few days. The image quality is quite good. Focus can be tricky since it's fully manual and you have to rely on your focus indicator which isn't always 100% accurate. I noticed that the F-stop doesn't register correctly in my Nikon D7000. I should be an f/3.5 lens but in camera it shows down to 2.8 and the f-stop is always off by about 1/2 a stop throughout the range.

By Mike (Troy, Illinois) April 05, 2013
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MC)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Lightweight, Highly Compatible, Compact Design, Easy To Use
Cons:
Other Comments: Love this lens and you can't beat the price. The images are great and it works great on my Canon 7D. I marked a con that it is manual, which could be an issue for some people. It is quite easy to use, if you know how to use your camera in manual mode. If you don't this is a good time to practice.

By budrowilson (Cookeville, TN) March 06, 2013
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MC)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Compact Design, Professional Quality
Cons: Fully Manual
Other Comments: The Rokinon 8mm Fish-eye lens is an absolute joy to photograph with and surprisingly sharp. For someone with a bag full of lenses, this lens brings a fresh perspective to photography. It's fun to use - plain and simple - and the results are very good (even better than the price would indicate). It's a fully manual lens, but it's not difficult to become proficient with it. For the price, it's a steal.

By meyel (KS) February 17, 2013
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MC)

Pros: Reliable, Durable, Easy To Use
Cons:
Other Comments: ou can't beat the price. It's a great deal. I do not own another fisheye, but for the money I could't pass it up. To show the middle of a say 5 ft object it's fine To get the whole object in it distorts but thats what its supposed to do. For closeups I'd use a 10-70 or something like that. But the fish eye is great fun.

4 out of 5 stars   economical entry into wide angle fisheye
By Bob M (Durham NC) April 22, 2011
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MC)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Cost, Pretty Sharp Lens, Build
Cons:
Other Comments: this a very nice entry into wide angle fisheye. It produces crisp images with nice color and detail. The one challenge and it can be a fun one is that on a Canon body it is a totally manual lens. Closed down a bit to f//8 or f/11 just about everything is in focus so it is not really much of a problem. I've been using a conventional lens to gauge exposure and then bracketing that and having success.

Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: I had done extensive research online before I purchase this lens. So far all the test results and photos on internet had proven that this was the best fisheye lens available with this kind of price. (I don't want to use the word cheap but you can't find any price better then this) If you are looking for tons of creativity and fun, you should not skip this lens at all. For me, everyone should have this lens in their bag.

5 out of 5 stars   Excellent, well constructed, fun!!!
By sRagnar Fotografi (San Antonio, Texas) November 23, 2010
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MN)

Pros: Sharp, Well Made, Lots of fun, Sturdy, Very wide
Cons:
Other Comments: Very well made lens. Heavy construction and very sturdy feeling. Full manual is very easy to work with. just have to remember to set the focal length since you cant really see the focus that well on the camera. setting the focus is very easy. I most of the time set it to f5.6 and infinite focus and most of photos are awesome. very simple. dont let the price scare you, this is a very well made lens that in my estimate will give years of fun. I have used the 10.5mm Nikon lens and this one even in a different class being all manual is way more fun. The price is a huge bonus but even at same price I would have taken this one over the Nikon!! And to add I am a fanatic Nikon fan :) Excellent well constructed fun!!!

Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MN)

Pros: Inexpensive, Sharp, Light
Cons: Manual focus
Other Comments: I never felt that I had a big need for a fisheye so I never wanted to spend the money. This MF lens (how much do you actually have to focus a fisheye at F5.6 anyway?) got me interested. Since getting it, I have found a few more uses that I hadn't thought of and expect to keep coming up with more!

5 out of 5 stars   Great Lens
By Brent (Alexandria, VA) September 24, 2010
Review submitted for Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 Aspherical Fisheye Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (ROFE8MN)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Meters well on Nikon D300, Price is right, Decent Build Quality
Cons: Manual focus
Other Comments: Overall this is a great lens, especially considering that the Nikkor brand is over twice the cost. This is not a lens I would use every day, but for the few occaisions I use it, it more than does the job well. It meters properly on a Nikon D300, I've also tried it with manual settings on a D70 and it also performed well. It is also very sharp with great projection. The build quality is good and I expect it to last for many years. This is actually my second copy. I originally purchased this lens from another retailer with the name "Bower" as the manufacturer and returned it. The Bower which is the exact same lens sold for $100 more and I returned it to that retailer once I found this out. The Rokinon, Pro-Optic, Samyang, and Bower are all exactly the same lens. Beach Camera had the best price from a retailer I trust. The only real draw back I see with this lens is that it is a manual focus. But fisheyes aren't as critical with the focus since they have a wide depth of field. I would buy this lens again if I lost it. There's a glowing review of this lens on Ken Rockwell's site.
