Di: Digitally Integrated Design, is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras. Ideal for use with both film and digital SLR Cameras. The most compact and lightest in the history of fast zoom lenses. Thanks to the revolutionary downsizing "XR" technology employed by Tamron in the development of high-power zoom lenses such as the 28-200mm and 28-300mm, the dramatic compactness that makes this lens the world's smallest and lightest is achieved. Its compactness makes it look and feel like an ordinary standard zoom lens, yet the versatility that a fast constant maximum aperture offers will definitely reshape your photographic horizons.

This is my second Tamron 28-300 lens. the first one is on my Canon EOS 20D and when I upgraded to the Canon 60D I purchased another one. I love not having to switch lens' and they both work great!

Great Lens for the Price

I bought this lens to replace one by another manufacturer that gave up the ghost after 6 yrs. The 1st time I used it was at an airshow. It produced crisp clear images with no focus or stabilization problems. The only problem I had was getting used to the zoom mechanism. It turns in the opposite direction from my old lens. Excellent lens for the price.

About Me Casual Photographer
with zoom fully extend objects are a bit blurry...this does not have VC. don't know if VC would matter, since the focus is fully extended. would by this again definetly.or might spend the extra 200$ if i find out VC makes a big difference. best between 70-240mm great pics
nice Lens when only one will do.

The only con I had was that it turns the opposite way that my other lens do. Attaches fine and works well up close and far away. Some time I can't get it to focus up close so I go to Manual and it works out fine.

About Me Pro Photographer
I'm a professional photographer and I teach a photography class. I normally buy Canon L series lenses but bought this one for the range it covers just to have as a carry around when I am not working. I put it on an old camera body that I no longer use (30D) and call it my "play" camera. And - I love it! The range is hard to beat and with this lens you don't really need to carry anything else on a hike or a nature walk. It's not as fast or as sharp as my 24-70 f/2.8 or my 70-200 f 2.8 but it does exactly what I wanted it to do - much better than I expected it to do it. I'm very happy with the lens and recomend all photographers invest in something to convert and old body to a "play" camera. Playing is what makes photography so fun!
