I thought this remote shutter release would be a great tool for me, however, it is completely useless as there are no instructions with it or with my Sony camera on how to pair the devices. I sent a request for information to Vivitar tech support and they advised me, in a poorly written note, to look at my camera's manual. My letter to them had indicated that the manual made no mention of IR remote shutter release.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I have bought wireless remotes from camera manufactures paying top dollar, but the vivitar wireless remote works Great and costs next to nothing. Using with a Sony a77, I have used this remote in strong sun at 15 ft. Great product at a Grate price.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
