The newly-redesigned Cintiq 21UX incorporates Wacom?s most advanced pen technology in a sleek new industrial design. The combination of the color LCD with industry leading pen input capabilities allows photographers, designers, animators and other creative professionals to work naturally and intuitively directly on the surface of the large-format, 21.3" LCD screen.
The new Cintiq 21UX detects 2048 levels of pressure, giving you even more control over pressure-sensitive pen effects such as line weight, opacity, and exposure. With Wacom's new Tip Sensor, the pen now features a lower activation force that captures even the most subtle nuances of pressure.
The ambidextrous design of the 2nd generation Cintiq 21UX features a pair of rear-mounted Touch Strips, along with accompanying Touch Strip Toggle Buttons. In this manner, gain instant control of up to four application-specific Touch Strip functions on each Touch Strip, such as brush size, zooming, scrolling and canvas rotation. Sixteen ExpressKeys (eight on either side of the display) boost productivity by providing quick access to keyboard shortcuts and modifier keys.

I use this product to draw, paint and sculpt digitally. Being able to produce works of this nature without having to work with paper, pens, ink, paint and clay is phenomenal and has increased my productivity one hundred fold.

So awesome. I'm on a imac 2010, so you'll need to buy a mini-display port to DVI-D Dual Link adaptor to connect it. Easy to set up, easier to use. I do a lot of illustration and this cuts my drawing time down tremendously. If you have the money I would suggest this to anyone beginning or advanced.
Bringing back the motivation.

I use one of the older models of this at work and couldn't go back to a mouse at home. I do photoshop for work including clipping, masking and light to heavy edits. For home I got the 21ux. I love the multi app key setups so I can use it in 3ds max for modeling, and scoot right over to photoshop to create/edit textures with specific key binds for each. It's an obvious improvement to my work flow, but it's so fun it motivates you to work, probably longer than you should, on a project.
Excellent product. Hefty price.

As a painter and GUI designer, this tool has vastly improved my productivity and ha given me a new freedom to express my imagination without the hindrance of disconnected eye and hand. Though this tool will not make you better at what you do it is much better than a regular tablet for improving your skills. I do echo the complaint that the placement of the touch strip can be annoying. I've accidentally scrolled through layers when I didn't mean to and had to go through a time consuming rework. The screen is amazing in it's clarity of color at sharp angles. Did not find resolution to be a big deal and I usually work dual screen with a larger and higher resolution monitor. If you are a visual media professional or want to get better and have the money this is a must buy.

This is the best piece of equipment an illustrator can have. If you can afford it, it is a must have.
It's a beauty... and does the job

Best purchase ever. Literally.

I bought my Cintiq for a short animated film I'm making. I've made several similar films in the past using a traditional tablet and I can say, after having rocked out on this thing for the past couple weeks, that the Cintiq is infinitely more awesome than anything I've used before. There's always been a learning curve with traditional graphics tablets. You have to get used to drawing with one and even then it's never quite the same as working with traditional media. This is not the case with the Cintiq. It is completely intuitive and awesome. I can't imagine that the technology has much farther to go; it's literally perfect. The display is great and, unlike previous models, there isn't a noticeable gap between where your pen contacts the surface of the display and screen where the image is projected. Overall, awesome. Totally awesome. It's really expensive, but I don't regret my purchase at all. If you have the money, the Cintiq is a great investment in your artwork.
