Comments about Western Digital 2 TB My Book Live Home Network Drive:
Honestly, I'd like to return this item. It's not doing what it's supposed to and its required several hour+ long telephone calls to support just to get it to successfully complete a simple backup. The continuous auto backup does not work. The software that the system uses for the backup - lets just say ever since I loaded it on my PC(3yr old PC with 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB Storage, and i5 chip), the PC has been freezing. Furthermore, the transfer rate and time it takes to do a backup (my network router is a brand new gigabit ethernet router N600 with top marks on transfer rate speed from PC Mag, and CNET.) is so slow that I have to connect it directly to the PC. What the HECK? So once the original backup is complete, its supposed to continually monitor the computer, detect any changes in file folders (ie loading new pictures onto the computer drive) and then back those up to the mybooklive. Yea, so far, it definitely hasn't done that. I've had to manually initiate a backup each time. Well that's not that serious until you think about what I wrote above - (to do a backup the computer has to be connected directly to the mybooklive). That's not how this is advertised. It's supposed to be able to do all that stuff over the Wi-Fi.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Setup and installation was simple and straightforward. Once setup completed, unit started to perform automatic backup but within a couple of days of use, the unit failed. Manufacturer has been contacted for warranty replacement. I am disappointed with this product because Western Digital drives have been very reliable for me for years.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Just perfect for your daily use
I use it on daily basis to backup my work and all other stuffIts nice that the backup runs in the background, so you can keep working while it backups, leave you computer when you done and it still doing the backup tooI found that this devices is a bit slow, but for now I blame my router that is not in gigabit modeHopefully I can see some improvement when I upgrade my router (if ATT allow that)

I bought this to replace an Iomega NAS unit that died after 6 days, and am so much happier with it. It fully and automatically integrated with Network Magic and my wireless network, including my flat screen TV. This was a pleasant surprise as the Iomega had done none of that. Plus, the WD SmartWare that comes with it does a great job working in the background to automatically back up all my networked computers.
