Elegantly Minimalist. Fully Loaded.
On the surface, the Nikon 1 J3 is a simple reflection of the art of photography.
Inside, it's packed with technology you would expect to find on a high-end camera. Use your Nikon 1 J3 everyday to capture pictures you'll treasure forever. Or, explore its advanced features and see your photography flourish in ways you never imagined.

High-speed continuous shooting
Continuous shooting mode delivers high speed and sharp images. When your subject is in motion, continuous shooting mode works with the camera's phase-detection AF system to track movement and keep the subject in focus. The moment you press the shutter-release button, the camera captures razor-sharp images at 15 framesper second (fps). Continuous shooting mode can shoot even faster when your subject is stationary (imagine a golfer's swing). In this case, you can set the camera to shoot at up to 60 fps!

Sized for perfection
The moment you pick up the Nikon 1 J3 you may not believe that you're holding an advanced camera with interchangeable lenses. With the proportion of W101 x H60.5 x D28.8, the small camera body is also extremely light weighing just 244 g (with battery and memory card but without body cap). Such a compact, lightweight design encourages you to carry the Nikon 1 J3 with you anywhere.

Slow view for fast scenes
When faced with a fast-motion scene, it is hard to know exactly when to shoot. Slow view is the solution. When you half-press the shutter-release button, the Nikon 1 J3 shoots continuously, capturing approximately 20 frames in a few seconds. On the LCD monitor you'll see the action occurring in slow motion. Once you see an image you like, just fully depress the shutter-release button-the precise moment is yours!

  • Never miss the perfect moment with Smart Photo Selector
  • Experience the emotional combination of a still image and movie with the improved Motion Snapshot
  • Enjoy a wider range of expression with the advanced movie by selecting the shooting mode (P/S/A/M)
  • See the special effects with live image control before you shoot
  • 14.2 effective megapixels with Nikon CX-format CMOS image sensor
  • Further improved "EXPEED 3A" high-speed image-processing engine
  • The built-in flash with automatic pop-up

4 out of 5 stars   Great camera for almost EVERYTHING
By EastOfGratiot (Detroit,MI) October 15, 2013
Review submitted for Nikon 1 J3 14.2MP Black Digital Camera with 10-100mm VR Lens (NK1J310100K)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Zoom Range, Color quality, Compact Size, exposure, Build Quality, Focus Speed
Cons: Control Access
Other Comments: The Nikon J3 (and all Nikon 1 cameras) are amazingly capable cameras that capture near-DSLR quality images and are far easier to carry and pack. The auto-focus speed is unmatched, the exposure metering is BETTER than most DSLRs and the lens selections are fantastic. I've been shooting the Nikon 1 system more and more lately and leaving my D600 at home. The 10-100 lens does it all in a fairly small package and the look and feel of both the J3 and 10-100 are of the highest quality.
