This ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range up to 500mm and allows photographers to bring the subject close and short perspective.

This ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range up to 500mm and allows photographers to bring the subject close and short perspective. Sigma's original OS (Optical Stabilizer) function offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower. It is ideal for sports, wildlife and landscape photography with handheld shooting. Three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for chromatic aberration. This lens is equipped with a rear focus system that minimizes fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing. The super multi-layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range. This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), which ensures a quiet and high-speed AF as well as full-time manual focusing capability. The addition of the (optional) 1.4x EX DG APO or 2x EX DG APO Tele Converters produce a 210-700mm F7-9 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens or a 300-1000mm F10-13 MF ultra-telephoto zoom lens respectively. A removable tripod socket (TS-31) is included as a standard component.

5 out of 5 stars   Sigma 150-500mm lens

Review submitted for Sigma 150-500mm F/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Autofocus Lens For Canon EOS Lens Kit Bundle (E6SG150500SEOS)

Pros: Love it. No problems with the lens or with the fast delivery from Beach Camera.
Cons: A little heavy but that's what tripods are for.
Other Comments: Even though I could get the same price elsewhere, I ordered it from Beach Camera because of the additional gadgets they bundled with it for the same price.

5 out of 5 stars   Sigma 150-500 f:5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM

Review submitted for Sigma 150-500mm F/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Autofocus Lens For Canon EOS Lens Kit Bundle (E6SG150500SEOS)

Pros: Solid, built tough, firm controls, easy to use and VERY sharp. Stabilization works like a charm. Excellent images even on overcast day.
Cons: None
Other Comments: I knew I'd never be buying the $12,000.00 lens I've been wanting. I read lots of user reviews and several independent test reviews and they really praised the lens. I'm so glad I gave it a try! I can hardly wait till the weather turns warmer and I can grab a variety of subject matter, especially some auto racing! So far I've used the lens hand held and/or with a monopod. Wow ! Bye the way, these were taken while I sat at my dining room table, shooting through a double pane window ! The lens is better than I ever thought it would be.

5 out of 5 stars   Excellent Lens

Pros: I used the lens for the first time at the airshow. At 500mm with the jets moving very fast, the autofocus worked great and fast. Pictures came out extremely sharp. I believe the lens is 4lbs, but I had no problems shorting handheld.
Cons: In post processing of the pictures, pixelation is noticeable once you start zooming in on the image. However, this is true with most super tele lens. Can't take of any points for that.
Other Comments: Great lens. Great deal at $200 off.

Pros: This lens will be going with me to Alaska this Summer. We are going whale watching and I can't wait to capture the whales flipping in the water. This lens has a stablizer on it. I have used the lens to take the pictures of the stars at night and the pictures came out crystal clear. I thought about this lens for a long time and I'm glad that I brought it. We will be going to Europe and Africa soon. We are planning to go on safarais and I am bring my baby (lens) with me.

Pros: Item shipped was fast, very good condition and works as described. Clarity of the lens and it's pictures, is up there with the pro lens of this type. It comes with : Lens Construction: 21 Elements in 15 Groups; Minimum Aperture: F22; Number of Diaphragm Blades: 9 Blades Warranty - 1 year America Warranty + 3 year USA extended warranty on manufacturing and workmanship for a total of 4 years of coverage from date of purchase. http://warrantystatus.sigmaphoto.com/ Features: . Incorporating Sigma's original OS (Optical Stabilizer) function. . An ultra-telephoto zoom lens covers a telephoto range up to 500mm and allows short perspective. . Three SLD glass elements and a rear focus system provide optimum image quality throughout the entire zoom range. . Super multi-layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. . HSM ensures quiet and high-speed autofocus.
Cons: It is a heavy lens and is mainly able or mostly used for well lighted out-door photo's and shootings. With a 150-500mm F/5-6.3, as we all know it isn't like a lens or lenses with a F/2.8 or F/1.4 or even a F/1.2, right! better used with a tripod which make photos more difficult but better quality.

Pros: Long reach, Fast Focus, Good focus
Cons:
Other Comments: I have not used this lens much. So far my test photos are nice. For me at 500mm, a tripod is a must, but I am not a very steady shooter. The order process went smoothly and the lens arrived when promised and in great condition.

Pros: Perfect for wildlife, excellent reach, Crisp images
Cons: Cumbersome, Heavy
Other Comments: I bought this lens for more reach while birding. It has accomplished that. Lens is heavy and very large, so somewhat difficult to use handheld. So far, I have only used on sunny days, so I cant comment on low light images, but the pictures I have taken have been crisp.

5 out of 5 stars   This lens is great for sporting events
By Becki (Orinda, CA) February 21, 2011
Review submitted for Sigma 150-500mm F/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM Autofocus Lens For Canon EOS (SG150500SEOS)
Verified Purchaser
Pros: Durable, Rugged, Consistent Output, Strong Construction, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Easily Interchangeable
Cons: Heavy
Other Comments: I use this for my childrens' sporting activities (swimming, water polo, baseball, golf). Last weekend I tried it out at a water polo tournament and was very pleased with the results. I also have a Canon L 70-200 lens that I really like, but it just doesn't reach far enough. The Sigma 150-500 received great reviews, and the price was significantly less than the Canon L 100-400 (plus I didn't really like the idea of Canon's push/pull zoom). I'm a photo enthusiast, certainly not a professional photographer, and this lens is just right for what I do.
I recommend this product Yes, I recommend this product

5 out of 5 stars   Great Value

Pros:
Cons:
Other Comments: I only have one test session so far on this big lens. The AF and image stabiliztion worked well. I shot action shots (hand held) on an overcast day in the snow. The action was a dog running and jumping and catching snowballs. At full 500mm zoom the lens kept up with the action and had ample light to stop the images which surprised me. The images were crisp with good detail and color. The image stabilization really does buy you an F stop or two. Some reviews said I would need a tripod because of weight or aperture/shutter speed at 500mm. WRONG. This lens works fine hand held. It is a great value at $1000. It exceeded my expectations. Now I am shopping for a tripod. Most manufacturers recommend spending $1000 on a tripod/mount for a lens this size. I tested it on my friend's $75 tripod - not perfect but good enough for me. If you bump it, the wobble lasts for a few seconds. I plan to spend $200 on a big heavy Slik 700 tripod that won't impress the pros. I am an amatuer on a budget. The lens mount is perfectly balanced with my Canon T2i Rebel on board. I even mounted it on my $20 mini tripod to prove a point. That's how balanced the C.G. is.

Pros: Strong Construction, Rugged
Cons: Poor in Low Light, Heavy, Caused camera malfunction, Expensive, IS not effective, Defective, Slow Focus
Other Comments: I thought that this lens would be a alternative to buying a "L" lens. Unfortunately, it was not useful and was defective.
