Introducing the New DJI RS 3 Mini

It was only a few months ago that DJI impressed the optical industry with their RS3 Ronin Gimbal Stabilizer.  DJI’s RS 3 Ronin Gimbal Stabilizer brought reliability and efficiency to workflows with its 3^rd Gen stabilization algos and enhanced design to support your vision with smooth perfectly balanced shots every time.  To say the RS 3 Ronin is a beast of a gimbal is putting it mildly.  Now, DJI is gracing the photography world with a mini version with the DJI RS 3 Ronin Mini Gimbal Stabilizer.

Design

The RS 3 Mini was created for simpler carrying setups but does feature NATO rails for added handle and grip attachments.  Every access includes a lock which allows for balancing each axis in isolation and maintaining perfect balance for your shots.  The RS 3 Mini uses a single ARCA Swiss compatible quick release plate which makes sense since the RS 3 Mini is streamlined for use with smaller cameras.  Featuring an integrated internal battery, the RS 3 Mini furthers the portability and compact functionality.  This is unlike DJI’s other larger stabilization gimbals which use a detachable battery grip.  The RS 3 Mini also features convenient controls right at your fingertips with a 1.4-inch full color touchscreen display, an M-mode button to swap between 3 custom modes, and a front dial for focusing control.

Connections

Link your camera to the RS 3 Mini via a Wireless Bluetooth Shutter function or USB-C.  Once linked, the RS 3 Mini and your camera will be ready to go as soon as it’s turned on.  The RS 3 Mini let’s you control video recording and configure the control dial to access photo capture functions like ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, directly from the gimbal controls.  The RS 3 Mini can even directly control supported power lenses optical and digital zoom, making operation clean and efficient.  No need for annoying camera control cables.

Battery

As mentioned, the RS 3 Mini does not used external battery grips but instead features an internal integrated battery handle.  The RS 3 Mini can be fully charged in as little as 2.5 hours and provides up to 10 hours of usage which should be more than enough for a full day of shooting.

Ronin App
