The Canon T8i bundle and T7i bundle from Beachcamera.com look virtually identical. Canon keeps its signature look consistent throughout its cameras. Size and weight is a big decision factor when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. The Canon T8i is taller by a hair than the T7i body only but there’s a bit more noticeable drop in weight, at 515 grams vs 532 grams. A quick look at the back shows that there are fewer buttons on the Canon T8i than on the T7i, resulting in a somewhat less cluttered interface. The button layouts are nearly the same, and mirrors the rest of Canon’s DSLR and mirrorless lines. Both cameras have the same 3-inch LCD screen that can swivel out and rotate. Canon T8i specs and T7i specs don’t see any changes in resolution either. These will display 1.04 million dots in full color.

Features

The Canon T8i specs include a more advanced image processor than the Canon T7i. The Canon T8i has a slight decrease in megapixel count compared to the Canon T7i, at 24.1 MP vs 24.2 MP. Both Canon T8i and Canon T7i have APS-C sized 24.0 MP resolution sensors. So sensor size and resolution is not a differentiator between these two cameras. The Canon T8i specs keep the 45-point cross-type AF system as well as Dual Pixel CMOS AF features of the T7i. The big change in the Canon T8i specs is in the upgraded image processor of the T8i, as it is powered by Canon’s DIGIC 8.

Performance

The Canon T8i can record better quality videos than the Canon T7i. Combining 4K resolution with Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF results in some pretty impressive videos. Canon’s entry-level DSLR, the T8i, is capable of 4K video quality topping out at 30 frames per second. Even better, the Canon T8i won’t have any cropping aside from the standard 1.6x crop of APS-C camera bodies from Canon. This is a nice upgrade to the 1080p at 60fps limit of the T7i. Canon also further improves the Canon T8i’s burst shooting prowess. It has a 7.0 fps continuous shooting speed compared to the 6.0 fps of the T7i bundle. This will be slightly higher in Live View, at 7.5 fps. All of these upgrades will improve image and video quality in this new T8i bundle. Being able to record in 4K resolution will make it highly attractive to video content creators. With a more advanced DIGIC 8 image processor, it is equipped with the latest performance boosts from Canon, along with its polished user-friendly interface.
