The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) in Midnight Violet are Bose’s flagship true-wireless noise-cancelling earbuds, combining enhanced adaptive ANC, CustomTune personalized sound, Bose Immersive Audio, improved AI-assisted call clarity, Bluetooth multipoint, Snapdragon Sound with aptX Adaptive, wireless charging, and a secure customizable fit. Midnight Violet is an official Bose colorway for the 2nd Gen model, featuring a deep indigo-violet body with lighter violet metallic-style exterior accents. Bose currently lists Midnight Violet alongside Black, White Smoke, Deep Plum, and Desert Gold.

Bose’s active noise cancellation is at the center of the Ultra experience. Quiet Mode provides maximum isolation for airplanes, trains, offices, commuting, and other distracting environments, while Aware Mode lets surrounding sound through when situational awareness matters. Updated ActiveSense processing makes transitions in Aware Mode smoother when the earbuds encounter sudden loud sounds, helping prevent passing trains, sirens, and similar noise spikes from overwhelming the content you are listening to.

CustomTune Technology automatically personalizes both sound reproduction and noise cancellation to the listener’s ears. When the earbuds are inserted, Bose analyzes the unique acoustic response of the ear canal and adjusts the listening experience accordingly. The process happens automatically, giving each user individualized tuning without requiring a manual hearing test or lengthy calibration procedure.

Bose Immersive Audio expands conventional stereo beyond the physical position of the earbuds, creating a wider and more spatial presentation that can make music and video feel less confined inside the listener’s head. Immersive Audio works with ordinary stereo content, allowing the spatial effect to be used across a wide range of music, movies, podcasts, and other sources rather than requiring specially encoded material.

Call quality receives a major upgrade in the second generation. Each earbud contains four microphones, giving the pair a total of eight microphones. Bose combines this array with AI-powered noise suppression and adaptive filtering to help separate the user’s voice from wind, office chatter, traffic, and other environmental noise. Bose specifically developed the updated voice-processing system to improve calls whether one earbud or both earbuds are being used.

Wireless connectivity uses Bluetooth 5.3 with a rated range of up to approximately 30 feet / 9 meters. Bluetooth multipoint lets the earbuds remain connected to two compatible source devices simultaneously, making it easier to move between a laptop and smartphone without repeatedly disconnecting and re-pairing.

The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) also support Snapdragon Sound and aptX Adaptive on compatible devices. In favorable wireless conditions, aptX Adaptive can dynamically increase audio quality and supports higher-resolution operation up to approximately 48.1 kHz. The codec can also shift toward lower latency when needed, including a low-latency Gaming Mode on compatible source hardware. SBC and AAC remain supported for broad compatibility with other Bluetooth devices.

Battery life reaches up to 6 hours per charge with Immersive Audio turned off and approximately 4 hours with Immersive Audio enabled. A fully charged case provides approximately 18 additional hours of listening. A complete earbud recharge takes about two hours, while a 20-minute quick charge provides up to approximately two hours of use.

The charging case now supports wireless charging directly out of the box, one of the major convenience upgrades over the original QC Ultra Earbuds. Place the case on a compatible wireless charging pad or use the USB-C connection when wired charging is preferred. Bose specifies approximately three hours for a full case recharge.

Fit is customizable through the included Bose Fit Kit, which provides three silicone eartip sizes and three stability-band sizes. Because the tips and bands can be selected independently, users have up to nine different combinations to find the right balance of acoustic seal, comfort, and physical stability. The second-generation eartips also feature a protective guard intended to make earwax buildup easier to manage and reduce its potential effect on audio performance.

The earbuds carry an IPX4 water-resistance rating, protecting them against sweat and splashing water during workouts, commuting, and light rain. The charging case is not water resistant, and neither the earbuds nor the case should be submerged or used for swimming.
